How to: DIY Smudge Sticks
Materials
- 4 - 5 Lavender sprigs or rose buds
- 15 Sprigs of fresh herbs ie: rosemary, sage or thyme
- Twine
- Scissors
- NB: If possible have a pair of sacred scissors - especially for magickal work.
Instructions

Start by trimming your flowers and herbs to your preferred size.

Next, wrap a long piece of twine tightly around the base of your herb bundle and continue wrapping until you reach the top. Tie the twine securely and trim any excess.

Be sure to trim any excess twine and herbs that may be sticking out of the bundle for a neat and tidy finished product.

Hang the bundle upside down in a cool, dry place for at least two weeks to allow it to dry completely before using.
To Use

When using homemade smudge sticks, light the dried bundle with a lighter or match to begin the smudging process.

Let it burn for a few seconds before blowing out the flame.

Gently blow on the smudge bundle and let it smoulder, smokey, not on fire!

Use the smoke to cleanse your space, wafting the smoke as you go to purify the energy in each room or space.

Continue moving around your space, cleansing and purifying.

When ready, extinguish either using running water or best set it aside in a fireproof dish.
